I would say it's more an indicator of a sick tree, than an indicator of fall.

That's funny! I believe the leaves changing is due to the lack of moisture! We came home to many leaves on our deck.
Trees change color in the fall as result of the change in light (i.e the angle of the suns rays).The second picture confirms the tree is sick. It has absolutely nothing to do with fall.
WHAT!?! ... but then corn on the cob is getting cheaper by the day...Ooooh I envy you and your approaching fall colours, lovely stuff.

I love critical anonymous comments. I do know that some trees have brown leaves indicating disease, drought etc. This tree and others like it were changing colour. I've even seen a bright red sumac leaf.
